In December 2023 we had a work project that put us in Phoenix, Arizona which is what led us to Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm in New Mexico (stick with me here, I'll keep this story brief). Instead of rushing home to Chattanooga, Tennessee where the weather was gray, cold, and dark, we decided to drive a bit further east and finally check out a bit of New Mexico. Previously we've only breezed through New Mexico while roadtripping across the country and hardly had time to stop in Albuquerque for more than a quick coffee or meal.
By December we were feeling pretty worn out and in need of a little rest so we knew we wanted to stay somewhere that felt relaxing. While chain hotels have a time and a place in our itineraries, we wanted something unique and that was cozy and comfortable for cozying up with a good book and a cup of coffee for a couple of days. While scouring the internet I stumbled across Los Poblanos Inn & Organic Farm.
Instantly I was intrigued.
An organic farm and a historic inn?? Sold.
We hopped in the car for what we thought would be a quick morning drive through the beautiful southwest deserts from Phoenix to Albuquerque. Ha. If only it were that easy. Rather than a straightforward route, we ended up smack in the middle of a snowstorm in a tiny little Prius. We were at the front of the storm and could see it growing behind us the whole way to Albuquerque so we kept driving and never stopping until we reached the hotel. The snow did catch up with us the last couple of hours of the drive but we kept moving knowing that if we stopped in the middle of nowhere, we'd probably be stuck there for a few days.
We rolled into Albuquerque cold and a bit frazzled since our southern selves are most certainly not comfortable driving in snowy conditions. Let's just say that the moment we arrived at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm we instantly relaxed and felt at ease.
The fireplace roaring in the lobby as we checked in welcomed and warmed us and we instantly felt the tension in our shoulders ease.
Yes, this was the right place to take a couple of days and relax.

You'll be handed a map of the property as well and the front desk will show you how to get to your room. If you need assistance reaching your room or getting your bags to your room, there is a golf cart service that will take you right to your door.
The rooms at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm are the epitome of comfort and rustic charm. Each room is uniquely designed, blending elements of traditional New Mexican decor with modern comforts. The wooden floors, hand-carved beams, and vibrant Southwestern art create an inviting atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, featuring comfortable beds outfitted with plush linens. Many rooms also come with a wood-burning fireplace, perfect for cozying up on a cool night. As an added bonus, many of the rooms have a captivating view of the organic farm, lavender fields, or the majestic Sandia Mountains, providing a serene backdrop for your stay.
Los Poblanos prides itself on its well-thought-out room layouts that provide an ideal blend of comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. Each room is designed to maximize space and make you feel right at home. They're fitted with a comfortable seating area, a work desk, and a king or queen-size bed according to your preference.
While the rooms vary a bit depending on which one you choose, but we chose one of the least expensive options and were impressed and so happy with our choice! Our room had a kitchenette area when you first walked in with a fridge, sink, coffee maker, wine glasses and bottle opener, and just about any other little accessories you would need during your stay. Also in the entryway was a built-in cubby with room for hanging clothes, the ironing board and iron, a safe, and it's where Los Poblanos hangs the complimentary robes (which we highly recommend putting to good use).
Past the entryway with kitchen and storage we had our main living area which contained a king-size bed and sitting area with two comfortable lounge seats, a coffee table and TV, a desk for working, and a door that led to our private patio with a sitting area. The private patio or balcony serves as a charming spot for enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a book, or simply soaking up the enchanting scenery.
The bathroom was next to the bedroom section of the room and was quite large with a single vanity sink, walk-in shower, and toilet behind a privacy wall.
Each bathroom is equipped with state-of-the-art fixtures, complimentary lavender organic toiletries crafted right on the farm, and plenty of room for your cosmetics and for getting ready in the morning. The lavender toiletries smelled absolutely lovely and aided in one of the best night sleeps I had had in a long time. I highly recommend taking a hot shower with their lavender beauty products and then slipping into one of their plush robes to wind down for the evening.
My only qualm with the bathrooms is the shower curtain instead of a door. I know this is nit-picky, but for a four-star style hotel, I would have preferred glass. The shower curtain was clean and the shower was plenty large that I never came near touching it while showering, but still, they're not my favorite to deal with in hotel bathrooms since they always feel a bit dirtier and cheaper than glass or showers with no doors at all.

The onsite restaurant and bar at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm is called Campo. Campo is a culinary delight, offering a farm-to-table dining experience that's truly unique. The menu, which changes seasonally, is inspired by the produce harvested from the on-site organic farm. The chefs create dishes that not only look and taste incredible but also showcase the rich agricultural heritage of New Mexico. Whether you're indulging in a hearty breakfast or a delicious dinner, each meal is a celebration of local flavors, expertly paired with a selection of fine wines and craft beers. While the weather was very cold and rainy when we visited Los Poblanos Historic Inn, we did notice a wonderful patio outside the restaurant with string lights that would be the perfect spot to enjoy a meal or even a cocktail after dinner with friends. The restaurant and patio overlook the lavender fields with mountains further in the distance behind the lavender fields giving the restaurant a picture-perfect setting.

What could be better than feasting on delectable, locally-sourced cuisine while lounging in your plush robe, looking out over the beautiful lavender fields? The in-room dining service ensures that even your quiet, lazy days are infused with a touch of luxury and culinary delight.
We took advantage of the in-room dining option for breakfast because we were feeling extra lazy and the chilly weather had us wanting to enjoy the mountain views from the comfort of the warm bed in the cozy robes. The in-room breakfast was some of the better in-room dining we've experienced lately and it was the perfect treat on a cold and rainy morning. We ordered the chilaquiles, a pastry, and lavender lattes and all were delicious! I'm a sucker for anything floral flavored (lavender, rose, honeysuckle, you name it) and the lavender latte was truly one of the best lavender lattes I've ever tasted. They make the lavender syrup in-house from the lavender fields right outside our room and they sell the syrup in the gift shop which we were sure to snag a bottle of before we checked out.
The onsite spa at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm is a haven of tranquility, offering a variety of revitalizing treatments and services. Whether you're looking for a deep tissue massage to relieve stress, or a lavender-infused aromatherapy session to soothe your senses, a visit to the spa is a beautiful way to complete your stay at Los Poblanos.
Unfortunately, because our trip was rather last minute we were unable to book any spa treatments. I can only imagine how perfect of an experience it would be though! The beautiful spa setting combined with the custom lavender products sound like a dream combo!

No, Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm is not pet-friendly (for dogs or cats). Because the property is a farm and is home to all sorts of resident animals, guests are not permitted to bring animals with them except service dogs. While we do love a good pet-friendly hotel stay, guests visiting Los Poblanos will get their animal fill from the property cat named Mouse who we found curled up in a chair by the fireplace, the resident peacocks, or even the alpacas that roam the property. Always keep your camera handy because you never know when you'll run into one of these unique creatures!
The overall value of staying at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm is exceptional. My absolute favorite thing about Los Poblanos is all the nooks and crannies perfect for cozying up with a book. The property is large with plenty of seating areas both indoors and outdoors that invite you in to sit and stay a while. Sitting purely for the sake of resting while looking and listening to nature is one of the purest joys in this life and one I don't stop to do often enough. Los Poblanos made slowing down and spending time in nature easy and wonderful.
